The Golden Bachelor Is Getting Divorced After Three Months And A Televised Wedding

I don't want to be a cynic and say I saw this coming but....who didn't? If there's one thing you can count on, it's that old people are set in their ways. Ultimately these two didn't want to compromise on their living situation and I'd say that's as good a reason as any to "dissolve the marriage."

My real question is though, were they ever actually going to work out? Did these two put on a big show, have the massive TV wedding, sell their love story to America and reinvigorate the franchise, just because they wanted the clout? The best part of Golden Bachelor were all of the old men and women getting in on the conversation and, it was clear that a LOT of people thought Gerry was full of shit. They even tried to cancel him for having a few girlfriends after his wife died, when the official story was that he hadn't seen anyone at all until he went on The Bachelor. It was hilarious watching all of the Grandpas get worked up over this guy, and now it looks like they were right. Golden boy Gerry just wasn't made of the right stuff.

Personally I doubt ABC cares about this. The Golden Bachelor was such a MASSIVE success that they're continuing on with The Golden Bachelorette, AND as of now, skipping Paradise this year for the filming. This divorce is so massive that The New York Times did an entire piece on it:

It was an incredible idea and I think it's definitely worth continuing, but we have to remember that no matter how old someone is, there's always the potential of a mess to be had. Gerry's season was all about finding love, family, and happiness despite aging. Life isn't over until its over! They've harnessed a whole new age bracket and I'm still on board for whatever is to come...despite the fact that Gerry wasn't the guy.
