Northwestern Will Play Most of Its Home Games at Its PRACTICE FACILITY for the Next Two Seasons

I'm sorry, Northwestern is going to do what now?

I genuinely can't believe this is real. I didn't even know this was allowed, honestly. Schools have to have a certain stadium capacity to even be allowed to be an FBS member so I guess I just assumed playing games at a practice field was off limits — but apparently not. Northwestern does say it's creating a "temporary structure", so maybe that satisfies the capacity requirements.

Now let me say that while this is incredibly ridiculous and would never happen at a school that takes football seriously, the scene will likely look incredible. Northwestern's practice facility is probably the most picturesque in the country and playing games on the shore of Lake Michigan will be visually stunning.

It's also probably going to be really fun. It's not like the Wildcats had any sort of home field advantage at Ryan Field, so maybe this garners enough interest to get some people to come to the games. I'm fascinated to see what this is going to look like. Northwestern home games will certainly not lack uniqueness in the next couple of years.

Northwestern is still apparently looking into other venues for select games, but as things stand right now, Ohio State and Wisconsin will be among the teams traveling to play at the Wildcats' practice facility this season with the potential of a missed field goal careening into Lake Michigan. I love this sport.
