Julio Teheran Made $2.5 Million To Pitch 3 Innings for the Mets Before Getting Released

It may seem odd to say Julio Teheran's outing of 2.2 innings, six hits and four earned runs on Monday night was the best of his career, but I'd bet if you ask him in a few years what game was his favorite, that one will be right up there at the top. And that's because Teheran was designated for assignment less than 24 hours later, giving him his guaranteed $2.5 million salary in full for one night of work.

I'm going to guess he didn't reach any of the incentives in the contract, but $2.5 million for one start is still a pretty solid deal.

Teheran definitely didn't look sharp, but he was facing the best offense in MLB on the road in his first start with a new team. The Mets didn't want to give him at least one more turn through the rotation in the second week of April to make sure he didn't have anything left? Whatever, I'm sure he wasn't too torn up about it.

I'd actually love to see the video of Teheran being told he was getting DFA'd today. It would take everything in my power to not burst out laughing and/or cry tears of joy. This man just pulled off a legal heist.

Congrats to Teheran on a legendary run with New York. The Mets actually won a game against the Braves in his lone start, so I'm sure it's one the orange and blue faithful will not soon forget.
