WATCH: 'MaXXXine' Looks Like The Perfect Ending To The Horniest Horror Franchise In The Game
In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.
Hell yes, baby! In case you haven't seen either prequel to this movie ('X' and 'Pearl') yet, they were some of the better horror movies to come out over the past few years and for different reasons. 'X' was more of a traditional horror while 'Pearl' worked harder on praying on the anxiety of the audience. The latter featured one of the greatest one-take monologues i've seen in ages and, in my opinion, should have gotten Mia Goth an Oscar nom. 'X' is more of a late 70s feel and 'Pearl' takes place during WW1, so to visit 1980s, neon-soaked LA for a bit of a noire, true-crime setting is just another example of how director Ti West knows what he's doing.
The trailer was awesome, showing off fantastic production value for the new setting AND the incredible new cast. Looping in one of the real-world serial killers of that era in The Night Stalker is a really smart touch as well and I can't wait to see how they use him.
'X' and 'Pearl' are both currently streaming on Paramount+. 'X' is also currently on Netflix.
