In The Latest Embarrassment For The Nike-Fanatics MLB Jersey Crisis, We Have Angels Pitcher Carlos Estevez Practically Getting Emotional When a Fan Asks Him To Sign An Old Jersey

What was it that Rob Manfred said about the new MLB jerseys? Oh that's right...

“I think after people wear them a little bit, they are going to be very popular.”

Nailed it. Buddy dropped that line and went on with his day trying to change the rules so every pitcher tears their UCL by season's end. Probably has no idea the jerseys are still as much of a disaster as they were when this ordeal first began.

I mean you've got players seemingly going out of their way to disparage these jerseys. Begging on their hands and knees for the old ones to return. Instead you got Manfred saying they're awesome and will be loved by all in no time, you just have to wear them more. Usually that is the case though, right? We all freak out about change and then over time like the humans we are, we adjust and move on. Well, the more people wear these jerseys the worse it gets. They're an atrocity to human civilization and the advances we've made with technology.

Then you have dickhead Michael Rubin taking no blame whatsoever. It's all Nike's fault in his eyes, he's just doing what the messenger tells him. Very mature way to attack the criticism.

(The Athletic) “They got certain players on board, not all players on board,” Rubin said. “When you change something so old and so nostalgic, you need everyone to be on board with it.”

“We’ve purely been doing exactly as we’re told — we’ve been told we’ve done everything exactly right — and we’re getting the s— kicked out of ourselves every day right now,” Rubin said at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference in Massachusetts. “That’s not fun. Normally when I get beat up it’s because I actually did something wrong.”

“In this particular case, Nike designs everything, hands us a spec and says, ‘Make this,’” Rubin said. “We have made everything exactly to the spec. Nike and baseball would say, yes, you’ve done everything we’ve asked you to do. Part of changing a uniform is people get uncomfortable, and it takes time (to adjust).”

He could be right and this really is all Nike's fault, but it's still a bad look to say all that when you're the ones putting together the jerseys and your company has a shit track record of quality material. This is your material and people fucking hate it.

So does MLB fine Estevez? Do they put out a hit on him? If enough players come out like this and voice their displeasure here at some point you have to do something right?

I miss Majestic

P.S. Yes, Carlos Estevez is Charlie Sheen's actual name
