Here's Everything New On Max In April, Including 'The Sympathizer' & 'The Zone of Interest'

 1. The Sympathizer

The series is based on the story of the Captain, a North Vietnam plant in the South Vietnam army. He is forced to flee to the United States with his general near the end of the Vietnam War. While living within a community of South Vietnamese refugees, he continues to secretly spy on the community and report back to the Viet Cong, struggling between his original loyalties and his new life.

This new dark dramadey is getting a lotttt of buzz right now. It's got a pretty killer supporting cast in Robert Downey Jr. fresh off an Oscar + Sandra Oh. It's showrunner, Park Chan-wook, is a legendary director responsible for 'Oldboy', The Vengance Trilogy, 'The Handmaiden', and 'Decision to Leave'. It's based on a Pulitzer Prize winning novel that, according to everyone I know that has read it, is amazing. Sign me up!

2. The Zone of Interest

Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss and his wife Hedwig strive to build a dream life for their family in a house and garden beside the camp

This is one of the best movies from last year which should be obvious since it is a 2x Oscar winner. It's a holocaust movie so you know it's gonna be messed up, but the use of sound (which it won an Oscar for) is absolutely haunting. Don't watch if you aren't ready for it.

3. Infernal Affairs

A story between a mole in the police department and an undercover cop. Their objectives are the same: to find out who is the mole, and who is the cop.

If you are a fan of 'The Departed', which I assume everyone reading this is, this is worth a watch. It's what Scorsese adapted and it's really interesting to watch the the source material vs the version we all know.

April 1st: Black Swan, Body of Lies, Bridget Jones's Diary, The Harry Potter Collection, Infernal Affairs 1-3 (the movie 'The Departed' is based on), Kingpin, Lost in Translation, National Security, Ronin, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, A Serious Man, The Social Network, Source Code, The Square, The Strangers, Terminator Salvation
