Richard Pitino Being A Top Candidate To Be Louisville's Next Coach Is A Perfect Look At How That Program Is The Biggest Shitshow In College Sports

Come on. This is easily the funniest outcome besides them just bringing back Kenny Payne. His dad sued the school! There was a long history of fighting between Pitino's and Louisville. How do you bring his son in to be viewed as the next head coach? I don't care that Pitino has been successful at New Mexico and average at Minnesota. You can't bring a Pitino back to Louisville, unless, you know, it's Rick. That guy can win anywhere.

This is just a perfect look at the biggest shitshow in America. Everyone knew they were firing Kenny Payne and did the moment their season was over. Now they are STILL somehow looking for a new coach. Dusty May seemingly picked Michigan over them. And as much as I like to make fun of Louisville, it's one of the elite jobs in America. I don't care what Kenny Payne did there, Louisville is that good of a job. That's just a fact for anyone in the business. But, again, it just highlights the shitshow that is happening there.

If that's not enough, you have former players calling out Nolan Smith. Yes, the Duke player turned Louisville assistant who reportedly tried to overthrow Kenny Payne as head coach.

You almost gotta try to be that bad when you go 12-52 at Louisville. It's damn near impossible, but numbers never lie. And don't get me wrong, I know Kentucky has its own shitshow with Calipari's situation, but at least we're not Louisville. We at least can make an NCAA Tournament game before Calipari pisses down his leg. We have that. The fact is there's no bigger shitshow of a program in America than Louisville. Basically every other major program has found a coach in the time they fired Kenny Payne. The only current open jobs are SMU and Oklahoma State and SMU is reportedly looking to hire Andy Enfield. So cross that one off the list.

How do you even get to this point? There are a million mid-major coaches out there that you can try to hire, give them the keys to rebuild and start new. Instead you're looking at Pitino's son? I had to check numerous times it wasn't an Athletic+ piece. I had to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me. It's also now what I'm cheering for. To go forward, you have to go backwards, kind of at least. That's the Louisville way.
