The "Over Section" Needs To Be A Thing In Sports

Ok ...here me out. Ice Con was clearly a success. I still think Dave is laughing to himself about the mental patients that flew from all over the country to make this thing. Just a hilarious scene up and down. All the boys coming together for a bet. No talk of different upbringing, political affiliations, religion etc ... just DUDES BETTING THE OVER TOGETHER, a bond stronger than most. The videos and the gifs were dynamic. Just absolutely hysterical. It's all anyone could talk about on the streams, and even though I'm a hoops diehard (despite how many times I put my foot in my mouth), I couldn't blame them. Just a scene.

Now what made this even more hilarious was how open the broadcast was with the thing. Everything from cutaways to tweets.

Awesome stuff by their social.

Now off of this, I had an idea. What if teams group sales departments leaned into this and had an "Over Section" at games? The only real question is why not when you think about it. Hear me out. A good portion of people who aren't season ticket holders drop in to a game or decide they will go to a game spur of the moment. They sit in some random section, they have random people near the, maybe they are annoying, maybe they get up to piss a ton, maybe they are obnoxious ... this can ruin an experience. Why not try to embrace what the Ice people have built and get a section where everyone is bonding, laughing and hopefully winning? What's the downside to selling some tickets for people who love the over? What's the downside to panning to that section on the jumbotron when it hits? Now I see how this can be complicated if the home team is losing big and they show fans celebrating against them so we need to work out some kinks, but this is a home run idea if you ask me. Hopefully some stoolie in a sales department is reading this and tries to pitch it.
