I Am All-In On South Korean Baseball

I can't believe we're only a few days away from the 2024 MLB season kicking off. The Dodgers headed to Seoul for a mix of exhibition and regular-season games, facing off against the Kiwoom Heroes, Team Korea, and then diving into a two-game series against the Padres to mark the beginning of the season. After a winter of wheeling and dealing, we're about to see some fresh faces and potential game-changers debut in Dodger blue.

Shohei Ohtani's spring training debut had the baseball world abuzz, and his appearance in Seoul is set to turn the hype up to eleven. Given the global superstar's proximity to his homeland, the anticipation among fans is sky-high. Ohtani and Darvish have yet to face each other so this matchup will have the South Koreans, and asian market buzzing, flashbulbs going off like crazy, and those Korean announcers going crazy.

(Hopefully, we get one of those awesome computer-animated cartoons from the news out of it. I miss seeing those things.)

But that's not the point of this blog.

The point of this is the amount of T & (surprisingly) A being flashed around at these Seoul baseball games.

I mean look at this.

You wanna save baseball M̶a̶n̶f̶r̶e̶d̶ Epstein? This is how you do it amigo.

Bring back the stacked ballgirls of the 70s and 80s in short shorts. Like the Cubs' famous ball girl Marla

Get us dancers on top of the dugouts in tied-up jerseys.

And get us some smokes throwing out the first pitch as this fine young lady did the other night.

Turns out she's up-and-coming actress Jeon Jong Seo, star of "Rising Star".

Here she was at the game-

She "puts the Seoul in South Korea" if you know what I mean. (Shout out fellow Carmen San Diego nerds who got that.)

(Hand up, I was not familiar that the South Koreans had game like that)

And the players loved her.

The camera guys did the Dodgers dirty by honing in on their reactions when they saw Jeon take the mound and I don't blame them one bit.

It's high time we stop penalizing girls for being beautiful, hiding them away because we're afraid it's going to hurt ugly people's feelings if we celebrate them. It sucks but those are the breaks. The world needs ditch diggers too. It's time we start showcasing beauty and talent again and stop pretending.

p.s. - speaking of which, remember when one of the high lights of tuning into a Cubs game (on WGN) was how horned up the camera guys and producers were and how they would constantly be showing all the drop dead gorgeous chicks sitting the crowd any time there was a break in action or as they headed to commercial break? Likewise, the Blackhawks became known for trotting out absolute rockets during their home intermissions to compete in their shoot-the-puck challenge.

Then a bunch of uglies got together and petitioned it, making a huge deal out of it and ruining it like they do everything, and now they rarely bring out anybody attractive anymore. So fucking lame.
