TikTok Ban Bill Passes House In Dominant Fashion

This morning in the US House, a bill that would force TikTok to cut ties with its Chinese owner passed without much issue.

SOURCE - The vote was 352 in favor and 65 opposed, underscoring its broad bipartisan support, with 197 Republicans and 155 Democrats voting to approve it. Fifteen Republicans and 50 Democrats voted against the bill. One Democrat voted "present."

The House fast-tracked the legislation, known as the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, by bringing it up under a procedure that required the support of two-thirds of members for passage.

Thanks to years of education that I totally paid attention to, I know what happens next: the bill goes to THE SENATE. Checks and balances...right?

Here is a complete breakdown of the vote:

As you can see, more Democrats voted no than Republicans. With the Senate being controlled by the Democrats, there is some hope from within TikTok that the bill will not pass. That's right, I reached out to my sources within the company. That's what we call journalisming.

Now, the bill is not an immediate ban of the app. It would give ByteDance (Chinese-owned) 6 months to sell it to an approved company (e.g. Meta or X). Here is Nancy Pelosi (my favorite!) explaining the situation to the American people:

Tic-Tac-Toe. That's right. After we do that, we're gonna POKEMON GO to the polls!

Maybe Pelosi can tic-tac-toe her stock tips to my inbox? Could be huge for my portfolio.

Speaking of my favorite politician, President Biden has also made it clear that he will sign the bill if it is put on his table.

This would be bad news for myself. I have devoted the last 2 years to my TikTok. Now, it is in the hands of a Democrat-controlled Senate. Ironic that I need the Democrats to save my career on a Chinese-owned app. Is this God having a laugh at me? Or maybe I am the ultimate hypocrite.

Such is life.

Is Truth Social still around? Maybe I can be an influencer over there.
