Watch: Terrifying Video Of A Snowboarder Being Rescued From A Tree Well By A Passing Skier

I feel like these videos come out every year and they never get any easier to watch. For those of you who don't know what a "tree well" is here's a diagram explaining it all...

Basically it's a hollow spot that forms around the tree trunk that you can get sucked into if you're not careful. Once you're in it, the snow acts like quicksand - the more you fight, the more you get stuck. It truly is a nightmare scenario for any skier. As is fracturing your shoulder and tearing your labrum in the lift line at Stratton mountain at 34 years old but that's a story for another time. Regardless it is a MIRACLE that guy spotted him given how hidden he was. Look at this shit…

That tiny orange spec in the top left is is the snowboarder. To be honest I don't even think that being a human would've registered with me. I probably would've just kept going. I don't know. We don't have these problems on the east coast. The west coast, meanwhile, has been getting hammered with snow. Some parts of Lake Tahoe got ten feet during their last blizzard. Ten feet! That leads to experiences like this…

Yeah no thanks. Count me out. That's it for this one. Thanks for reading and thank god that guy made it out alive.
