Ryan Garcia Claims He Would "Destroy" Sean O'Malley In A UFC Fight

In a bizarre interview with Ariel Helwani yesterday, boxer Ryan Garcia claimed he would "destroy" Sean O'Malley in a UFC fight - and is actively working to make it happen. Helwani seemed to doubt this claim a bit, but Garcia insisted he was serious and already contacted Dana White about the matchup; and wanted to give it a shot since a boxer has never successfully made the jump to the UFC....

He says if he puts his mind to it and starts training with Nate Diaz and Alex Pereira, it wouldn't be close.

Garcia had a super weird Oscar De La Hoya like energy about him the whole interview, and already brought up the (astronomical) bag the UFC would have to pay him to fight O'Malley - so I'd be shocked if there was even a little progress made in this fight at any point whatsoever. It just seemed like something he threw out there to snag a few headlines in promotion for his upcoming fight.

I don't think Ryan Garcia, currently making millions upon millions of dollars to box a few times a year, has any interest in taking a leg kick. He'd dismantle Suga Sean in the squared circle, no doubt about it - but I'm pretty sure he'd crumble after a few calf kicks in the cage. And if he didn't, O'Malley would take him down and strangle the life out of him within the first few minutes. Sean said as much, too….

Oh, and speaking of Oscar De La Hoya, he wants to fight Dana White in the co-main event on this card….

Good luck with that. Enjoy the headlines you stole today.

P.S. I think the worst/most offensive part of this entire interview was Garcia thinking “Dana hit me back, I’m tryna beat Sean O’Malley’s ass” was a bar/rhymed in the slightest. Stick to boxing, buddy.
