You Won't Believe The Tactics That Creighton Head Coach Greg McDermott Used To Recruit Former Bluejay Star Doug McDermott

On Friday's Pardon My Take... GREG MCDERMOTT! The Head Coach of the Creighton Bluejays joined Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter just a few days after beating the No. 1 UConn Huskies to talk about that big upset in Omaha, coaching his son, preparing for March Basketball, and more.

If you are a college basketball fan, you are familiar with Doug McDermott and his game. But with 350+ options in this country to play Division-I college basketball, how was the Creighton Head Coach able to get Doug to commit to the Bluejays? The answer may surprise you. It may even leave your jaw on the floor. Truly shocking stuff. Take a look...

Wow. Big if true. The Creighton Head Coach slept with Doug McDermott's mom. And not to mention, as PFT said.... TENS OF THOUSANDS OF FREE MEALS?! The NCAA may very well be knocking on the McDermott's door soon.

In all seriousness, I had no idea that Doug McDermott was technically a walk-on during his senior year, as his dad mentioned at the end of the clip above. Teammate Grant Gibbs got a sixth year of eligibility, with none to give away on the Bluejays roster. So, what did Coach McDermott do? Put Gibbs on scholarship, and started paying for his son's tuition during his final season. Very cool nugget.

Creighton is back in action on Sunday at noon ET, as the Bluejays take on Rick Pitino and St. John's.
