Nikola Jokic Messed Around And Made Some NBA History With A Perfect Triple Double And Naturally He Didn't Give A Shit

With the LeBron/KD/Steph era eventually coming to a close, there's been a lot of debate recently over who the next face of the NBA is/could potentially be. You hear names like Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards, Wemby, Joel Embiid, Giannis etc, but what if the answer is none of those players? What if the answer is the current Finals MVP and best player on the planet? Surely you know who I'm talking about. This guy

Ho hum, just a little 21/19/15 perfect triple double. No big deal, just another historic performance by a historic player, who had the exact reaction to making history that you would expect

Jokic became the 3rd player to ever do this in NBA history, joining both Russell Westbrook and LeBron, so not terrible company. I know people tend to hate on triple doubles nowadays but not me. Call me old fashioned, but I think impacting the game in the areas of points, rebounds, and assists is pretty important when it comes to winning basketball games. You won't ever hear me discredit 21/19/15 on 10-10 shooting in any way shape or form. This marked the 121st triple double for Jokic all time, which is good for the 4th most ever. He currently sits just 17 behind Magic, and it wouldn't shock me if he takes a huge chunk of that out by the end of the year. I'm not ruling out Oscar's 181 with the assumption that Jokic should age pretty well.

With all the talk about being the new face of the league in a post-LeBron world, why can't the answer be Jokic? He rules. Not only is he a generational player who went on a historic postseason run to secure his title, he's probably going to win the MVP again this year to make it 3 out of 4. That's pretty much the face of the NBA right? Winning the title, winning the MVP all the damn time, being the best player on the planet, throwing up perfect triple doubles on a random Thursday in February against the Wizards, Jokic checks all the boxes.

As we've seen, once we get to this time of year, you cannot ignore Nikola Jokic. Until someone knows him off, he is still the current king. With nights like this where I imagine he probably went 75% considering it was the Wizards, that's pretty terrifying when it comes to have to beating that guy 4 out of 7 times.
