Jay Williams Doubled Down on His Caitlin Clark Take: 'You Gotta Win Championships To Be GOATs'
Jay, it's time to let this one go. Dave Pasch tried to give Jay Williams a chance to walk back what he said and Jay decided to double down. I at least respect the commitment to the bit.
Jay spent two minutes saying the exact same thing he said last Saturday bout how Clark can't be one of the greatest women's basketball players ever because she hasn't won a championship and then tried to gaslight all of us at the end, saying it was a clip taken out of context and all that. I will not be gaslit. You just said the same stuff all over again.
Also, Jay's "GOATs" all seem to have played on pretty loaded UConn teams while Clark decided to stay home and play at Iowa. I'm fairly certain she could have started at South Carolina or UConn and won one or multiple national titles if she really wanted to. But she wanted to play for her home state school and has taken its women's basketball program to heights it hadn't seen in 30 years, which is something that should be commended rather than derided.
By Jay's logic, is Robert Horry a GOAT? Seven rings, baby! Championships!
This is just such a silly hill to die on. Everyone loves Caitlin Clark. She's incredible. She's made women's basketball more popular than it's ever been. But Jay needs to see more, I guess.
