52-Year-Old Donald Brashear Is Still Chucking 'Em In Quebec Pro Hockey League

We've been making a pretty big deal over the fact that 52-year-old Jaromir Jagr is still playing pro hockey in Czechia. But one of the things that Jaromir Jagr did better than almost anybody who ever played hockey was score goals. And through 15 games this season, Jagr hasn't found the back of the net yet.

One of the things that Donald Brashear did better than almost anybody who ever played hockey was beating the wheels off of guys. He's got to be a top 10 fighter the game has ever seen. And at 52-years-old, this sick bastard is still dropping the mitts in the LNAH.

I've blogged about this league before, but realistically it's more of a fighting league with a little bit of hockey played in between. You don't find yourself in the Ligue Nord-Américane de Hockey unless you're prepared for complete and utter carnage. The players are lunatics, the coaches are lunatics, the fans are lunatics. It's the real life version of "Goon".

So Donald Brashear didn't come out of retirement to play in the LNAH just to light up the scoresheet. He came back to pro hockey to fight. As much as I love Jagr, getting to just buzz around on the ice and set up a few goals at 52 is a helluva lot different than foiling up the knuckles and going out there to fight every night at 52. Donald Brashear is one of one.

Also the best player to wear #87.
