People Who Spit Gum Out Anywhere But The Trash Are Filthy Animals

Spoiler Alert- this is probably going to be #1 on my "What's Dante Mad About This Week" segment tomorrow on Nate's radio show.

I've had it with you dirtbags who chew gum and don't know how to dispose of it properly.

I've been on a rampage lately trying to figure out the best ways to remove gum from upholstery and carpeting because of the insane amount that we find stuck to our couches and carpeting at my bars and clubs every week. It's like a virus that just multiplies week after week. It's insane. I don't think I ever realized there were this many uncivilized miscreants among us. Going about their night, trying to freshen their breathe, or hide their coke jaws, by chewing a stick of Wrigely's, and then just spitting it out wherever.

What solidified it for me was seeing this article involving one of the greatest music venues on the planet- Red Rocks in Colorado.

EDM.com - Red Rocks is in a sticky situation, but not in the way you might think.

The Colorado-based amphitheater, renowned for its unparalleled natural acoustics, found itself under an unexpected assault—not from the elements, but from dozens of pounds of chewing gum. Thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers, this gooey predicament has been addressed in an effort to preserve the beauty and integrity of the legendary venue.

The operation was spearheaded by the non-profit organization Friends of Red Rocks, a group committed to maintaining the amphitheater's splendor. Despite the amphitheater's overt policy against gum, volunteers routinely find discarded pieces stuck under seats. They reportedly scraped a staggering 50 pounds of gum that had accumulated in 2023 alone.

"Gum is not even permitted inside the amphitheater, but how do you prevent that? People have it in their purses, in their pockets," Pia Valeriana, a Friends of Red Rocks volunteer, told FOX31. "We hope that people will chew responsibly and put it in a paper and not to stick it under the seats."

Littering, in general, is the behavior of trash human beings. Meaning, if you throw trash or rubbish out where it doesn't belong- a trash receptacle- you are garbage. But spitting gum out in the majestic venue that is Red Rocks? You gotta be a true scumbag who was raised by wolves.

Throw your gum in the trash or wrap it in a piece of paper, or kleenex, or anything. As a very last resort, swallow it, like your mom should have done with you.

End rant.

Reminder to tune in to Nate at Noon tomorrow.
