RIP To Bill Post - The Genius Of A Man Who Created Pop-Tarts, One Of The Most Iconic Treats In The History Of Mankind

Sad, sad news here with the passing of William 'Bill' Post. You know the name Post most likely because you are a normal human being who has eaten Pop-Tarts at least once in your life. I'm not going to rank Pop-Tart flavors, everyone has done that before. I prefer Wild Berry as my number 1 though. The key is knowing whether or not a person is old school Pop-Tarts or the new school flavors. Put me very much in the old school category. Blueberry, Cherry, Strawberry, Brown Sugar Cinnamon. They are one of the most important and greatest inventions not just in food but in the history of mankind.

Think about it. Pop-Tarts are as versatile as anything we've ever seen. You want a little treat for breakfast? Pop-Tarts. You want a snack at any point in the day? Pop-Tarts. You could divide a country by arguing whether or not you raw dog them or put them in the toaster. Give it to me right out of the package. That's the best way to consume a Pop-Tart. Bite right into it, get the dry stuff out of the way early with a little bit of frosting in each bite. And then you end on the deliciousness of the middle of the Pop-Tart.

I don't care how old you are, Pop-Tarts always play. I'm nearly 37 years old and simply will happily eat Pop-Tarts every day of the week if I can. Luckily I can pass it off as a little bonding time with my 4-year old. Just a couple guys sitting down and enjoying the deliciousness of frosted fruit treats.

I have one request for the Pop-Tart family though. Bring back the greatest Pop-Tart of all time. One that only olds will remember. The Olympic one that came out in 1996. They were a dark blue with white stars and full of deliciousness. Limited time offer that were as good as anything you'll ever eat.

Consider this blog a thank you to Bill Post. Thank you for giving us one of the best treats in the history of mankind. Thank you for giving us one of the best mascots in bowl history.

A legend. An icon. Everyone eat a Pop Tart or two for Bill Post today.
