The First Trailer For 'Twisters' Is Here And It Looks AWESOME
An update to the 1996 film 'Twister', which centered on a pair of storm chasers who risk their lives in an attempt to test an experimental weather alert system.
There are a few things that excite me about this movie.
1. Lee Isaac Chung directing. He is far from a household name, but his last movie, Minari, was awesome + he directed an episode of The Mandalorian (The Convert) which was great as well. It's not like he has a long track record but I'm excited to see what he can do.
2. Tornados. Natural disasters are scary, man! And there was a point from '95-'05 where we had like 10 natural disaster movies a year and they were all great bad movies. We've unfortunately gone away from that, and hopefully this can succeed and bring us back to movies like Dantes Peak, The Perfect Storm, The Day After Tomorrow etc.
3. It's a solid cast! Glenn Powell and Anthony Ramos have both been crushingn it lately and David Corenswet was obviously cast as Superman for James Gunn's DCU. Daisy Edgar Jones has also been on a heater of late but in much more dramatic works.
Another great aspect is the fact that it's not a late sequel or anything like that. Just a reboot with no connective tissue. So they're obviously trying to cash in on the name but they're not gonna be trying to cast Helen Hunt as the protagonists second cousin thrice removed or whatever.
