Robin Lopez Proves That Book Guys Are The Biggest "Look At Me" Guys Out There

The Milwaukee Bucks traded Robin Lopez to Sacramento yesterday at the deadline. He didn't immediately hop on a flight to Sacramento after the trade because he's getting waived by the Kings, and is now a free agent.

So Robin Lopez had the night off last night. He's no longer a member of the Bucks organization. He doesn't have to go to Sacramento. He could have done anything in the world that he wanted to do. So what did he decide to do with that time?

He still showed up to Fiserv Forum to watch the Bucks get their shit shoved in by Minnesota. Only he didn't go there to watch a basketball game. He didn't show up to support his former teammates. He didn't go just because he's some great lover of basketball and simply can't get enough of the game. He showed up to read a book at the scorer's table. Because that's what Book Guys do.

It's not enough for them to just read and enjoy a book by themselves. They need everyone else around them to know that they're reading a book. That they're an intellectual who is far too cultured to be entertained by simple-minded TV shows and movies. "Oh this? Yeah this is just a book I started reading yesterday. I'm already 100 pages in. I can't put it down! You want to know what it's about? Well I don't really think you'd understand it, plus I would just end up talking your ear off about it forever."

Fuckin' book guys, man. You're really telling me that if Robin Lopez actually wanted to just read that book that he couldn't do it from the comfort of his own home last night? Book guys want the attention. They want it to be a spectacle. They want people gasping and in shock that someone in the year 2024 is actually reading a physical copy of a book instead of scrolling through TikTok for hours on end. We get it, guys.
