Nothing Sums Up The Panthers Being A Terrible Franchise Like Matt Rhule Claiming He Was Vetoed From Bringing Up Brock Purdy's Name At The Draft

Typically I'd call Matt Rhule out for being full of shit. We see this all the time. A coach or GM saying oh we wanted to draft him but someone ruined it for us. It doesn't matter what sport we're talking about, there are always stories like this. But for probably the first time, I believe Rhule. The Panthers are a shit show of a franchise. All they do is fire coaches, make wrong picks and just kinda exist. They have awesome colors, I'll give them that, but this is still the Panthers. Steve Smith ain't walking through that door again.

Plus, Rhule is right. He does have history with Purdy. He coached against him while he was at Baylor. If we know anything about drafts, guys like to take people they have seen or have ties to. That's not exactly a secret here, just human nature. That's why I'm siding with Rhule - and it has nothing to do with the fear of Will Compton taking me for a walk because I insulted his coach. No sir, this is all about the Panthers.

You know, the franchise led by this guy

Or the franchise that was summed up by Clem here

Or a franchise that had fans ready to protest

You get the point. This is also the franchise that took Bryce Young over CJ Stroud. Early, but come on, Stroud looks like a superstar and the Panthers had to bring in Andy Dalton to run QB sneaks. So, yes, I believe Matt Rhule here. I don't care if it seems easy to say when the last pick of the draft is now starting a Super Bowl in year 2. I believe Matt Rhule wanted to at least put him on the draft board and I believe the Panthers vetoed him. It checks out because of the franchise.
