'Got That Ass Whooped': Georgia Tech Coach Damon Stoudamire Kept His Press Conference Short and Sweet After Losing by 30 at Home

Everyone was thinking it, but Damon Stoudamire just came out and said it after his team got thrashed by Wake Forest to the tune of an 80-51 loss in Atlanta. And that final score isn't even that bad when you consider that Wake led 33-5 with 6:00 to go in the first half.

You have to respect Stoudamire for keeping it real. It's not like anyone was going to confuse this game for a good performance, but a lot of coaches would have come out and said something about how losses like this are steps in building a program, there are going to be bumps along the way, etc. But Stoudamire just sat down, said his team got its ass kicked and was ready to prepare for the next game.

The Yellow Jackets have had quite an odd season in Stoudamire's first year — after having one of the weirdest football seasons in recent memory, too. They're 3-9 in the ACC, but those three wins are over North Carolina, Duke and Clemson, arguably the three best teams in the conference. Tech also lost by just five points to Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium and also beat then-No. 21 Mississippi State.

If Stoudamire can pull off some wins like that in Year One, it seems like he might be able to build that program back up to where it was 20 and 30 years ago.
