"The First Four Letters Of My Last Name Spells Out 'WINS'" - Jameis Winston Tells Pardon My Take The Origin Story of Eating A W

On today's Pardon My Take... JAMEIS WINSTON! You read that right. One of the biggest interviews in Pardon My Take history aired on today's episode, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Jameis flew into our Chicago office for the day for an incredible conversation with Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter to talk about his career, eating W's, being an all-time vibes guy, Florida State, and tons more.

Speaking of "eating W's," it's one of those things that is synonymous with Jameis Winston. Let's start with the first time that this phrase came to us, back in 2017...

The internet immediately fell in love with this pregame speech from Winston, and our guys revisited this moment on today's show. How did this happen and why did it stick? Check out the clip below...

If you didn't watch, Jameis said that it stemmed from a combo of the first four letters of his last name spelling WINS… plus, a bowl of Alphabet Soup, and how when he would eat that bowl of soup, he would scrape up every letter in that soup. Therefore, you're EATING A W!

Anyways, Jameis then mentioned how he would eat that "real" W made of his fingers during that initial speech, the first player he then proceeded to dap up after that huddle was… DeSean Jackson. Winston said Jackson was probably the worst person to dap up right after that iconic speech, because all he was interested in was scoring touchdowns. The eye contact the two of them made was probably awkward, to say the least.

But hey, the speech was powerful. Did the Bucs end up going on the road and winning that game against the Saints? Unfortunately for Winston and company, no. But did we, the NFL fans, get that speech to watch back for the rest of time? Yes. Yes, we did.
