Living The Dream: Delta Airlines Pilot Files Lawsuit After Getting His Foot Stuck In A Moving Walkway At The Denver Airport

Not sure about you, but when I was a kid my mom would always tell me that getting hit by a car in a crosswalk would be a gold mine. Seemed confusing at the time since getting struck by a motor vehicle would hurt very bad. I did not want this.

But from my mom's perspective, if I survived the hit we'd be able to sue that driver for all of their worth. College would then be paid for and we wouldn't still be paying off Syracuse student loans. Seemed like an additional gamble just hoping that the driver had lots of money. Either way, I learned right then and there that lucking yourself into such an opportunity was like winning the lottery.

Well, a gentleman by the name of Kenneth Gow is currently living out that dream

Law and Crime

A pilot whose foot got stuck in a moving walkway at Denver International Airport has filed a lawsuit claiming a missing part at the end of the walkway caused him to fall, hurting his shoulder and foot and causing him to require physical therapy and miss work.

Kenneth Gow, a pilot for Delta Air Lines, rolled his foot at the end of a moving walkway in an airport terminal in November 2022, according to his lawsuit filed in December 2023 in a federal court in the Mile High City.

The Delta Air Lines pilot is moving forward with a lawsuit after getting his foot stuck in one of those fancy moving walkways at an airport. There's footage of the fall, clear evidence of poor maintenance, visuals of how his shoe was destroyed, and medical documentation of his injuries.

The walkway was not in proper repair and “posed an unreasonable risk of injury to passengers on it,” creating a dangerous condition, court documents said.

Jackpot.

The best part was that while he did in fact sustain an injury, it really wasn't all that bad. A strain of his achilles, a banged up shoulder, and a bruise on his foot? Worse things for sure, but the court doesn't know the emotional stress and PTSD he suffered from such a traumatizing experience. He's done the hard part, now it's up to his attorney to cross the goal line. Milk that shit for every dollar you can.

“It’s really fortunate that Mr. Gow wasn’t hurt worse,” his attorney Brian Aleinikoff told Colorado NBC affiliate KUSA. “It was fortunate that Mr. Gow was wearing a pretty hefty shoe. It’s fortunate that he didn’t lose his toes.”

The lawsuit, alleging negligence, seeks an amount to be determined at trial for medicine, doctors’ fees, prescriptions, hospital care, imaging, physical therapy, and medical procedures. It also seeks damages for severe injuries and losses, including physical impairment, emotional distress, mental anguish, and physical suffering.

I'm so jealous of this man. The amount of scaffolding I've walked under in my life….the countless manholes and basement hatches I step on while walking through the city…and nothing!! They all hold up and do their job. Each encounter potentially leading to hundreds of thousands of dollars, only to result in keeping me safe. It's infuriating. Best case I'm rich, worst case I'm dead (and that's really not that bad of an option).

When I see a story like this all I can think about is what could have been. Kenneth Gow, I tip my cap to you sir. May your lawsuit lead to a dump truck full of money backing up to your house. We're all rooting for you.
