The NCAA fucked with the wrong people on this one. The failing organization — Queen Donde's words, not mine — is investigating Tennessee and its NIL collective, The Volunteer Club, in relation to the recruitment of future Heisman Trophy winner Nico Iamaleava and his reportedly very large NIL deal he signed upon his commitment to UT. Put as simply as possible: the NCAA has absolutely nothing in this case. The investigation has been going on for quite some time and Charlie Baker and Co. still don't even really know what they're looking for, much less have any evidence of wrongdoing.
So Chancellor Plowman said we're gonna burn this motherfucker to the ground. It's about time somebody does it. Even if Tennessee had done something wrong it this case — and I am quite certain it hasn't — is fighting the battle against players getting paid STILL the issue the NCAA wants to be railing against? Now it has given an administration who clearly feels confident in its innocence and is ready to go to war the opportunity to oppose one of the most unpopular organizations in America in the court of public opinion. Seems like the wrong fight to pick.
