The Commanders FLEECED The Niners In The Chase Young Deal

Here's the thing about Chase Young- if he wanted to, he could be an absolute force in the league. The problem is he doesn't want to be. He has no interest in putting in the work or the effort. He has been the best at football since he was 7 years old and has never had to do more than the minimum effort to be the best. Just one of those freak athletes who has every physical tool in the world. And now that he's in the NFL, the pinnacle of his profession, he can't be bothered to put in the effort needed to maintain being the best.

And yeah, he hasn't been the same since the knee injury. It fucked him up worse than we even know. Even after being medically cleared by the doctors, Chase still didn't play for what- 7 more weeks? He didn't want to get back on the field. And I think it is a mental thing with him. He still didn't trust his knee, he felt he wasn't as explosive as before, and it bothered him. But also, he just doesn't love football. Rehabbing a major injury SUCKS. It's a lot more work than showing up to practice each day and going through the reps. Rehabbing to get back to elite NFL competition is brutal and it looks like Chase wanted nothing to do with it.

I'm not even trying to shit on Chase- it just is what it is. He was a can't-miss prospect at every level and I was ELATED when we took him 2nd overall. He was supposed to be the face of the franchise, a complete game-changer, someone that offensive coordinators would lose sleep game planning around. Instead, he was injury prone and never put much fear into anyone.

And now? Now it's just sad. And I like Chase! But he clearly doesn't want to do anything besides cash a paycheck and get outta there. He'll probably play another contract and if he doesn't turn things around he could be an all-time bust. The numbers are actually worse than I thought:

Happy for the local guy getting to the Super Bowl. But man, he did as much work as Taylor did to get there.
