Mookie Betts Is Moving From Right Field To Second Base This Season And Was Already Voted As The Best Second Baseman In Baseball

It's crazy to me how this isn't a bigger talking point in baseball. Mookie Betts is a future Hall of Fame right fielder if he retired right now. Buck Showalter said Mookie was the best right fielder he has seen play, I think the 6 Gold Gloves out there support that. We always heard he could play infield in a pinch if needed and the Dodgers really took that to heart. He's played in the infield 101 times since coming to Los Angeles and this year he is fully making the move to second.

Think about this. Arguably the best right fielder of our generation is switching positions to the infield and is already the best player at his position. That shouldn't be possible at this level. High school, sure. College? Okay. That doesn't happen in the bigs. He's switching positions because his team asked him to and they immediately got better at a different position.

And it's not like he's moving from center to right, that is tough in its own right. This is a whole new position. Outfield to infield is not a fun or easy move to make. But he's doing it and it's unfair. It's crazy you can be that good at 2 different positions in at the highest level. And not to mention he's an incredible bowler and basketball player too. Guy is insanely talented across the board. Like it would be a cool story if he was moving to second and was like 8th best, but this is unheard of really. He's one of the more under appreciated players of our era.

And it's not like there are bums at the position, Jose Altuve is still putting up good numbers, Marcus Semien just helped win a World Series, Ketel Marte is verrrrrry underrated too. Some damn good players there but the best of them all is a guy whos played a HOF caliber RF for the last 10 years. Betts truly is a video game character. You shouldn't be able to be the best at two different positions unless your name is Shohei, who by the way is now Mookie's teammate. Baseball is the hardest sport in the world and he's been making it look easy for 10 years because of stuff like this. Casually moving positions like it's nothing.
