LOLLLLLL: The Cowboys Are Bringing Back Mike McCarthy For Another Year!!!
Absolutely fucking hilarious. I had to triple check I wasn't seeing some parody account and to be honest as I type this I'm still not positive it's not. Bringing back Mike McCarthy AGAIN is without a doubt the funniest thing Jerry Jones has done since he kept bringing back Jason Garrett over and over and over again...and we all laughed hysterically at that as well.
And it's clear why they would bring him back instead of bringing in one of the many head coaching candidates on the market- he plays nice with Jerry. He doesn't demand inclusion in player personnel jobs, none of that. And his regular season numbers aren't bad, his teams win a lotttt of regular season games. But my god, he's now coached 16 seasons and has won 11, shout out Gaz, 11 post-season games. And 4 of them were in the 2010 season. So 36%, over 1/3rd of his entire postseason success was in one season 13 years ago. Mama Mia!
It's jarring how much regular season success he has had compared to post season. Seems impossible that he only has 1 Super Bowl, which is the entire reason I can't believe Jerry is keeping him around.
The fact he only won ONE Super Bowl in Aaron Rodgers' prime, and was more or less embarrassed in every other season before being fired is very telling of who he is as a coach. If the bar for success in Dallas is now "winning in the regular season", build this guy a statue.
Looking forward to another Cowboys post-season collapse next season, a tradition unlike any other. Congrats Mike!
