Steph Curry Finally Channeled His Inner LeBron And Essentially Told The Warriors The Time Has Come For A Major Trade As Shams Now Says Everyone Besides Curry Is On The Table

At the moment, things aren't exactly what I would call "great" in GS. When you have a stretch like this

where the majority of your losses are coming at home, that's a bit of an issue. Coming off getting blown out by the Raptors, to follow that up with getting crushed even worse against the Pelicans is a brutal look, and currently has the Warriors sitting at 17-20 and in 12th out West. Sure they may be about to get Draymond back, but will it even matter at this point? You add in all the drama surrounding the team and it feels like the Warriors might finally be cooked.

At this point, there's really only one thing that we haven't had, and that's Steph playing his star player card and publicly demanding the team do something about the roster. It's something he's never really done in his career, but given that he's not getting any younger and the time to win is now, it appears we've finally reached the breaking point.

This was about as close as we can possibly get to Steph channeling his inner LeBron and basically telling the front office the time has now come to trade all the young guys for win now pieces. Maybe that's Siakam, maybe that's Zach LaVine, who knows. The point is, Steph is making it clear that enough is enough. I almost didn't believe what I was hearing when I watched this last night, mostly because he's never even come close to doing something like this, but that's what happens when the losses start to mount. NBA stars get restless, even Steph Curry.

And make no mistake, if Steph says it's time to trade pieces, that's exactly what the Warriors are going to do. Every decision they make basically boils down to "what does Steph want". So we get this quote last night, and then immediately this morning, here's Shams

The interesting part is how crazy does Steph want the Warriors to get? Does he mean just trade Kuminga/Moody, or is he finally open to breaking up his core, and would be OK if Draymond or Klay was moved? I'm not sure how much value Klay has as an expiring deal in a down year, or who would be running to sign up to pay Draymond's 100M extension, so this is most likely involving the two young players.

My nightmare of course is that the Warriors pull off something for that win now player, the team goes on a crazy second half run and the dynasty rolls on. Maybe that's just my PTSD talking, but depending on what the eventual trade looks like, I don't think we can rule that out.

Either that happens or we're truly witnessing the beginning of the end of the Warriors run. Once you lose Steph Curry, there's really no coming back from that, and it feels like we're inching closer and closer to that reality
