Toronto Raptors' Coach Darko Rajakovic Immediately Climbs Up The List Of All-Time Press Conference Blowups After This Rant Against The Refs
Truth be told, I don't know a ton about Darko Rajakovic. I don't really follow Serbian basketball all that much, believe it or not. And I'm seeing now this is his first stint as a head coach in the NBA.
Well let me tell ya right now--that's a Coach of the Year if I've ever seen one. This is a man who you can go to war for and with. Maybe it's the fact that he was brought up in Yugoslavia and has just been hardened by life in Eastern Europe. But holy jumpin' does this guy have the juice to rally some soldiers.
Scottie Barnes is a great player. You don't win Rookie of the Year accidentally. Now is he going to be the face of the NBA? If you would have asked me at any point in my life up to last night, I would say for sure not. I'm not the biggest NBA guy in the world, but I could probably name at least 20 players before remembering to mention Scottie Barnes' name. But after this rant from Darko Rajakovic? All I'm saying is that we can't rule it out. A man with that much passion is able to move mountains.
Also, I think Darko just cracked a code here. Usually when coaches start bitching about officiating during post game pressers, it's not the best look in the world. But when you go on a rant in broken English? Something about that is more endearing. I'd contribute to a GoFundMe to pay off whatever fine the NBA slaps Darko with after that rant.
