Savage: NFL Network Followed the News of Arthur Smith's Firing With the FedEx Players of the Week

Oh man, this is just too perfect.

Arthur Smith has been getting clowned on Twitter all season for his sub-optimal usage of the Falcons' offensive weapons, but nobody has trolled him better than whoever lined up the FedEx Palyers of the Week segment immediately after the announcement of his firing. I am choosing to believe this was intentional 1) because I stopped believing in coincidences a long time ago and 2) because it's simply too good to have happened by chance. Bravo to whatever producer cooked here.

Pretty much everyone is aware that Smith's father Fred founded FedEx, but it actually still feels like a fairly underreported story, honestly. This guy should be in the C-suite at one of the largest corporations in America and instead he's coaching football. After watching the Falcons for the last three years, though, I kinda wish Smith had pursued a career at daddy's company.

I'm sure Arthur is feeling about as good as any recently dismissed NFL coach can feel this morning. He'll get a nice buyout from the Falcons, I'm sure he'll receive some calls about offensive coordinator positions around the League and if things ever really go south for him, he's got a fairly secure family nest egg to fall back on.

He will die still unsure of how to design a gameplan around Bijan Robinson, though.
