The Harding Bisons Went Undefeated and Won the D-II National Championship While Completing Just 26 Passes All Season
Now THIS is football. All anybody wants to do now is launch the ball all over the field, but the Harding Bisons play a brand of football that your grandfather would love and rode that all the way to an undefeated national championship season.
Those are some pretty gaudy offensive numbers from the Bisons and they did all that while completing a grand total of 26 passes all year. Harding's 46.9 points per game ranked second in the country and its 6,160 rushing yards were more than 2,500 ahead of the next-highest team. Bully ball.
I know it's Division II, but it still blows my mind that schools like Vanderbilt and Indiana can see results like this and still not even consider trying the triple option. The worst thing that could happen is you suck, which would not be a departure from anything those teams are doing currently. Harding's head coach should get phone calls from multiple FBS programs if they were actually serious about winning.
Regardless, I love this offense. The Harding Bisons line up, run the ball down your throat and make you like it. We're going for 7,000 rushing yards and fewer than 10 completions next year.
