The Fran Brown Effect: Syracuse Lands Former 5 Star Ohio State QB Kyle McCord As They Continue To Build Themselves a Football Program
Fran Motherfucking Brown! We were told he was the best recruiter in all the land, but goddamn landing a 5 star QB in the portal less than a month into the job? Unbelievable.
Now I'm sure some of you will shrug off getting excited about Kyle McCord. You know what? Cuse hasn't had a QB like this guy in forever, so excuse me for being pumped up. 3000+ yards, 24 TDs and only 6 picks? Yeah, I'll gladly welcome that caliber of passer to the Dome. Not my fault Ryan Day is a buffoon who couldn't properly unlock his quarterback. Surround McCord with some talent on the outside, which I'll get to in a moment, and you have yourself a very dangerous offense that can tear apart ACC defenses.
These days talk can be so cheap. A new boss, politician, coach, etc can address his or her people and just spew a bunch of bullshit, full of empty promises. Fran Brown has done the opposite. This guy told Syracuse he was going to recruit his ass off and build a contender. We're watching it happen before our very eyes, thanks in part to hibachi, because who doesn't love hibachi?
Just two weeks into his tenure, Fran Brown has been able to snatch two Georgia WRs in Zeed Haynes (4star) and Jackson Meeks, flipped 3 star WR Jaylan Hornsby away from A&M, and now McCord. Texas A&M 4 star edge rusher Fadil Diggs will be visiting soon and there's also hope his brother Fatim will be in the mix as well.
It's overwhelming, stunning, and exciting to see. We've got ourselves a program all of a sudden. If you're transferring out of Georgia, Fran probably is in your kitchen as we speak. If you grew up in Camden, you're taking a visit up to Cuse. A&M guys? New DC Elijiah Robinson will do anything in his power to flip you. It's a new world boys and girls. There are going to be actual expectations in 2024 and beyond. The ACC is wide open and Fran Brown thinks he can play at the top. I have no reason to doubt this man.
I still don't know how he's doing all this. Do we actually have NIL money to spend all of a sudden? If Fran promising these kids eternal life and riches beyond their wildest dreams? I'm not sure how you become the best recruiter in the nation in this day and age, but I'm also not going to question his actions. I'm all the way in.
P.S. There's a small part of me concerned that play calling is being ignored in all of this, but that's a future problem to tackle. For now just recruit, recruit, recruit.
