The NBA Dropped The Hammer And Suspended Draymond Green "Indefinitely" For Punching Jusuf Nurkic In The Face

Immediately following Draymond Green getting ejected for punching Jusuf Nurkic in the face, the next question became

"How long would he be suspended for?"

When this happened last night, my initial thought was Adam Silver was going to double his 5 game suspension from last month at a minimum. You can't have a guy suspended for 5 games and then a month later be right back to punching people in the face. The same way Adam Silver dropped the hammer on Ja Morant after his second fuck up following his suspension, you had to think the same thing was coming for Draymond. Deep down he knew it too, you could tell at his postgame presser:

It was a last minute prayer to Adam Silver and the league because Draymond knew he was fucked. Did it work? Well that all depends. Here's how the NBA has ruled when it comes to Draymond's punishment

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the league did not buy his excuse/rationale. Now I guess this all depends on what "indefinitely" means. I hear that word and I take it as Draymond is cooked for a while. At the same time, what if that's just another 5 games? I feel like if it wasn't a big chunk they would have just released it.

I wonder if this is Silver continuing to follow the Ja model. At first, Ja was suspended 8 games, then basically a month later he was back to doing the same shit. His second suspension was "indefinite", and that turned into a 25 game suspension.

Draymond was first suspended 5 games, then basically a month later he was back to doing the same shit. His second suspension is "indefinite". I have to imagine he's going to miss a massive chunk of time. In the same way Ja had to check all these boxes, now so does Draymond.

For the Warriors, this is a pretty big blow given how important Draymond is to how they play on both ends. Already 10-13 with a slumping Klay and Wiggins, now losing Draymond has them in a pretty tough spot. This is what Draymond can't seem to realize. The more he does this shit, the more he continues to hurt his own team. Nothing good comes from it. The Warriors went 2-3 without Draymond the first time around, and my guess is considering they're under .500 on the season, it's going to be more of the same.

As sad as it is, will any of this even matter or finally convince Draymond to change? Of course not. He'll serve this suspension and we'll be back here at some point down the road. He still has 2+1 left on his contract so unless the Warriors cut him (why would they) it's only a matter of time until he does something else.

Then the NBA will double the suspension and around and around we'll go until Adam Silver just says fuck it and kicks him off the tour.
