Khalil Rountree throws BOMBS in there, huh? He extended his win streak to five tonight (and he's got TKOs in four of those) when he knocked Anthony Smith senseless and put him on skates with a nasty combination in the third round of their co-main event.
This was a bit tough to watch, especially because Anthony Smith came into the office a few weeks ago and was so damn cool. He hung around with Chris Weidman for a while even after our interview, and told me he thought it was cool that I've gone from a kid making "cringey videos" to like, a real interviewer. I don't know what cringey videos he could've been talking about, but I thought that was really nice of him to say, and it made me feel really bad for him when he got knocked out tonight.
At least Rountree held that final shot back....
Smith accepted this fight on short notice, though, and still brought the fight to one of the division's best/most dangerous strikers, so I don't think he's done by any means. He'll be back, and still has a couple scraps left in him for sure.
