Anthony Davis Wants To Win The In-Season Tournament For The $500,000 Bonus So He Can Buy His Wife And Kids Christmas Presents
I thought this was really nice and relatable. There is nothing better than getting a Christmas bonus so you can buy the ones you love a little extra in the holiday season. I gotta say throughout my tenure at Barstool, Dave has been extremely generous with the holiday bonus. I used the first 4 or 5 years to pay off my student loans so I was debt-free in 2017 which was an awesome feeling. I paid that shit off in big chunks instead of doing the minimum payments, highly recommend.
Anywho as I was saying, I used my bonuses to pay off student loans, buy BTC, and rent NYC apartments. But as I got older, I realized I really enjoyed buying gifts for friends and family. You don't really appreciate how true "giving is better than receiving" truly is until you don't really need anyone to buy you a gift anymore. It kinda sucks in some aspects- like anything I want (you know, besides a house or other highly expensive things) I usually just buy. But I do enjoy picking out gifts for others now.
Sorry if that was a little sappy- look it's the holiday season, what do you want from me! Even the Dawg's heart can grow a few sizes once they start lighting the city up with Christmas spirit!
But all that sappy shit aside, let's get to Anthony Davis, who...man is he trying hard in that quote. I don't blame him, $500k is $500k, and to most people that is more money than they will ever have in their bank account. But MY GOODNESS...here's a guy who has already made 270 MILLION IN THE LEAGUE!!!

Mama Mia!
I'm not even hating on him, I swear. But He could stare at his bank account, a $500,000 bonus could hit, and he wouldn't even notice. He'd have to really squint to see a 3 turn into an 8. You ever think about it that way? $268,331,911 and $268,831,911 look IDENTICAL but it's a half of a million USD difference! So ok yeah, I guess I'm hating on him, because that's just insane to say he wants to buy his wife and kids nice Christmas presents lol. I understand the sentiment- free money is fucking awesome, every time, no matter what. But when you just signed a 5 year, 189 million dollar deal, it kindddddd of rings hollow lol.
I appreciate him trying to keep the value of money strong in his eyes. And I think he's probably being honest? At least a little. But it's also pretty fucked up for a guy with that much money to be crying poor too, intentionally or not. I could see people being like "oh shut the fuck up dude". And honestly, you know what he should buy with the money? Some ice.
PS: Can reporters stop asking these guys what they'll buy with the money? It's clearly super awkward for everyone.
PS: I could type forever about how strange money as a concept is and how the idea of it can really fuck with my head and I never know if I have enough and so on and so forth, but honestly I just hope you all have a stress-free holiday season and try to ignore the pressure of expensive, extravagant gifts that society pushes on us. I know it's not easy for everyone and hopefully if you are struggling you can find love and peace and happiness from non-tangible items. Gosh bless, Namaste, and love to all.
