Bloomberg Is Reporting That Billionaire David Rubenstein Is In Talks To Buy The Orioles And I May Explode From Happiness

Could it be? Could this be happening? Like can angel decending from the heavens, we got this dropped on us on Thursday. Yankee fans think they had a good week? Orioles fans beg to differ. News came out that Carlyle Group co-founder David Rubenstein, AKA my soon to be favorite person in the world, is currently in talks to purchase the Baltimore Orioles.

Gillian Tan of Bloomberg gave us this piece that is behind a paywall, but I've seen behind the wall and I like what I saw. This is what fans have been waiting for. This could be a magical moment in this franchises history if this eventually happens. We never thought this day would happen, and now there is a legit chance we are on the way.

Obviously a lot of things could go wrong, lotsssss of things. When you get two super rich dudes involved with anything, it can go wrong at any time. But the idea that the Baltimore Orioles could have the 3rd wealthiest owner in baseball is something I am VERY interested in.

I'll be honest, I didn't know who David Rubenstein was before yesterday but now I can't get enough of him. I want this guy to buy the team so damn bad. It's a match made in heaven. Rubenstein was born in....Baltimore! Went to high school in Baltimore, lives in Bethesda, and he's been interested in purchasing a baseball team before as well. Oh, and Bloomberg said he's got a net worth of right around $4.6 BILLION. He also purchased the last privately owned copy of he Magna Carta for $21.2 Million. Guy just....bought it. He bought the Magna Carta because he can. I want an owner that is so rich he has Magna Carta money.

What isn't to love about this? Sounds like the Orioles and their reps aren't confirming or saying anything, but if Bloomberg is writing and publishing this piece, it has to have legs. Also, we were wondering how these reports came out and why they were public...and then I realized Rubenstein has 2 TV shows through Bloomberg. Makes sense now. I also thought I read that legally it had to be made public. Again, that tells me where there is smoke there is fire.

This is really the first news we've had about a sale in years and years, it's never seriously been talked about like this publicly. That and the Bloomberg article coming out sounds to be like this thing has legs. It's time for the Angelos family to let the ball club go. It's time. Papa Angelos is in his 90's, the family was trying to sue each other over control, just take the money and run Johnny. This also could be a major reason why the lease is dragging on like this. Who knows what is actually going on behind the scenes but I think there def is a connection.

My pal Spenny laid it out perfectly, he was saying how perfectly this has worked out for John Angelos. He got the state to agree to give them over half a billion dollars, issued a joint statement with the governor saying the lease was done, and now he has all of the power and leverage as he jacks up the sales price and they race to get this deal done before the deadline. He's backed them into a corner. He's increasing that sales price, he really is a madman. But he's a madman that may be willing to finally unload the team and David Rubenstein is the man who save us all.

This move could be the biggest move in the history of a franchise. An owner who is hopefully willing to spend and invest in his team is something we have been waiting for. Peter used to invest in the team, he just wasn't that good at it. John has shown no desire to improve this team at all and hasn't shown to even have an interest in the team. Franchise is valued at $1.7 Billion, maybe Rubey gives John like $2.3 Bill and he calls it a day. It truly would be one of the best days in the history of this beloved city. A change in ownership is needed. It's passed time. Who better to come along than the super rich local who made his own money, didn't get it from daddy. If Rubenstein does complete this deal and he actually starts to spend money, it's over for you hoes. Mark my words.

I can't express how big this move could be, I really can't. This could be the start to something very, very good. I can tell you what the entire state of Maryland will be paying attention to for the next few weeks, we're officially on #RubensteinWatch.

PS. The DMV area getting rid of Dan Snyder and the Angelos family in like 2 years would be hilarious.
