'Bullshit. This One's For You' - Tyler Kolek Delivered A Masterclass In Revenge While Single-Handedly Kicking Texas' Ass For Shaka Smart

I was debating blogging this because the game was such an ass kicking, but you know what? Tyler Kolek is GREAT for college hoops. Dude was Big East POY a year ago, is not afraid to mix it up and is a potential All-American on a top-5 team in the country. Yeah, I'm aware he transferred a few years ago but it worked out! Look at what he's doing at Marquette. 

This is hilarious though. We know the story of Shaka and Texas. The relationship never worked. Shaka's style is made for guys who are in college for multiple years, buy into the havoc style and frankly Shaka's whole quirk coaching style. It works though. It worked at VCU and it's working at Marquette. At Texas he was getting one-and-dones and trying to blend it and it just never really felt right. 

But for Kolek, it was personal. He even admits that Shaka has never said anything about Texas! He just took it upon himself to determine it a revenge game. You need a little crazy on a great team and that's what Marquette has with Kolek. Helps that he goes for 28, 8 and 6 too. Not too shabby. You could tell he was in a zone right away considering he was going shot for shot with Max Abmas before hitting a couple dagger threes at the end of the first half. 

Again, I know the whole Shaka can't win in March thing ever since his Final Four run at VCU. But this Marquette team is fucking awesome. They won the Big East regular season and Tournament a year ago. They were a 2 seed who only lost one guy. This isn't asking them to take a major jump. It's basically being the same team and not losing in the Round of 32. 

We just need a mic in front of Kolek more often. He's not afraid to say what's on his mind and is a hell of a player. That's great for college hoops.
