The Jets Are Adding Brett Rypien To Their Quarterback Carousel Of Failure

Welcome to Hell Brett Rypien. You're about to join such luminaries as Bryce Petty, Luke Falk, Greg McElroy and even your predecessor Tim Boyle in the long line of quarterbacks leading a team that is tanking down the stretch. This shouldn't be a tradition but it certainly is at this point. Once the thermostat drops to under 40 degrees, you can count on the Jets playing someone who has no business being in the NFL starting at the most important position. The team is going to tell us they are trying to win games but we all know the truth, don't we?

It is absolutely wild that the Jets started Tim Boyle TWICE this season. If you had told me that would happen back in July, I would have openly wept. This entire season has been such a disaster. The Jets literally turned to Trevor Siemian to save their season last week. It went about as well as you'd expect.

On top of all of this mess, you also have rumors that Zack Wilson doesn't want to start because he knows he's going to be a free agent and he doesn't want to get hurt. Whatever it's worth, Aaron Rodgers is Team Zack.

Now our lonely eyes turn to Brett Rypien who is pretty, pretty, pretty terrible. He has 4 career touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He started a game for the Rams last month against the Seahawks. The Rams lost 20-3 and he threw a pick. I have no idea what the plan is for Rypien and the Jets. I assume they'll want him to start as soon as possible. I'm also going to assume that Siemian will be starting Sunday. The Jets are already 6 point underdogs to the Texans despite being at home. Don't get me wrong. They should be underdogs. It's just that's another sentence I wouldn't have believed in July.

This year being another Jets fiasco of a season does at least feel familiar. It's not a comfortable feeling but it's been so long since the Jets were in the playoffs, I almost don't remember how to react. I could try to spin this that Nathaniel Hackett is familiar with Brett Rypien from last season. Of course Hackett and Rypien played the Jets last year and lost. He had his familiar line of no touchdowns and an interception. I don't have much faith that there is some magic that Rypien will unlock.

This has been your update on the Jets quarterback situation. Nothing is good and everything is terrible.
