The Flyers' Rebuild Is Heading In The Right Direction After Adding 9-Year-Old "Enforcer" Owen Micciche To The Team

It was Hockey Fights Cancer night in Philly last night. In honor of the night, the Flyers made a midseason acquisition by bringing in 9-year-old Owen Micciche. Unfortunately, Owen has had to battle against cancer since he was just 6-months old. He's been fighting his whole life against something so much bigger than a hockey game. But clearly hockey is one thing that keeps this kid going, and fighting even harder and harder every day. If that's not a Hockey Guy, then I don't know what is.

Not only did Owen get a chance to pop on the ice for a few laps during warmups, but he got to catch the first period from behind the bench with Torts.

What a moment for the young man.

Unfortunately the Flyers ended up losing the game, but none of that matters anyway. 2 points in the standings would have been great, but it's impossible to see that night as anything but a win for Owen and the Flyers. He got a chance to be a part of that locker room, throw on that jersey, snap a few wristers into the back of the net during warmups, and now has that experience for life.

Plus, he'll always have this video of him in the tunnel which goes extremely hard.

It's been a pretty lousy few years for the Flyers as far as being a hockey team is concerned. But this seems like a great way to get things turned around as an organization. Bad night for hockey, but great night for Owen and the Flyers. Here's to hoping he continues to give this battle everything he's got and comes out with the ultimate win.
