Ryan Poles Gave The Type Of Quote You Give When You Know You're Firing Your Head Coach

Poles: "Don't look at me. I told him that he had to play the good players. He didn't even know that. He's an idiot"

Warren: "Well, who hired that idiot?"

Poles: ...

It's rare to be feeling so low after a win, but two 4th quarter fumbles and zero touchdowns will do that to you. Bears almost broke their own record by winning the turnover battle, having a huge edge in time possession, and still losing. They pulled victory from their own jaws of defeat when they managed to complete a pass down field for the first time after 59 minutes of play. Much has been made about the post game scenes in the locker room. The team was downright jubilant after scoring 12 points and beating Josh Dobbs. That's all well and good, I suppose, but that quote from Poles tells the whole story. Ideally, you shouldn't need to communicate to your Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator that the best player on the defense who just signed for $100M should be playing more and in critical situations. That's the type of quote you give when you're trying to save your own ass. Changes are coming. I hope they are more sweeping. I hope it involves the Bears selling the team to a billionaire who gives Harbaugh everything he wants. In the meantime it appears that the at minimum Poles recognizes that the guy he hired was the wrong guy.
