The NBA Is Looking Into Allegations Of Josh Giddey Having An Inappropriate Relationship With A Minor
The Josh Giddey story has been everywhere on the Internet the last few days. If you're unfamiliar, a couple of videos surfaced on Twitter a few days ago accusing Josh Giddey of having an inappropriate relationship with a minor. I'm not exactly sure the rules are with sharing videos of minors in this kind of situation, but they're easily findable if you search his name.
The videos in question off very little context on any of this, and it's taken a few days to get a response from both Giddey and the NBA due to the Thanksgiving day off for the league. It's important to note these are just allegations to this point. I hesitated on writing this blog until the NBA made a statement, which came out today after Giddey said he had no comment this morning at shootaround:

Thunder HC Mark Daigneault called it a "personal matter" and refused further comment when asked if it was a distraction:
I found this response a little weird from Daigneault, even if he is just playing the quiet game and letting the investigation process pan out. If we look at the Wander Franco situation in the MLB, they placed him on the restricted list in an attempt to keep the distraction away from the team. The Thunder you would think would do the same thing, especially with a story like this that has generated hundreds of millions of views online and has been trending for two days now. They play at home tomorrow night, and I can't imagine the NBA's investigation will be that quick, but as of now Giddey is still on the active roster and to this point will be playing in tomorrow's game.
The pressure is now on the NBA to complete its investigation in a quick but efficient matter. If all this is true, Adam Silver has to deliver a swift and harsh punishment and it should be the end of Giddey's time in the NBA, despite having immense potential in the league. Again, there's a lot more to come from this story, one that is certainly disturbing if true, and all we can do now is wait for more details to come out.
