A New Record: It Took Exactly One Game For Tom Izzo To Blame His Players For Being Too Pampered And Getting Whatever They Want

Ahh yes, there it is. I was wondering if we'd get Tom Izzo blaming the Michigan State loss on the sorry ass pampering of players. That's clearly why they lost and James Madison won. Grit vs pampered, however you want to describe it. Usually Izzo saves this sort of rant for sometime in like December or January, typically after a conference loss. But nope, we're getting it night 1 and I love every bit of it. It was a guarantee that Izzo would say something like this.

1-for-20 from three? That's not the problem! Hell, who cares about playing your best players?

Nope, it's all about these kids getting whatever they want. They are simply too soft these days and Izzo won't stand for it! Nothing makes me laugh more than when coaches go right for this sort of thing after a loss. At some point we gotta stop blaming kids being 'pampered' and just say you got out played. That's what happened. James Madison was better than you. I don't even know how you go 1-for-20 from three, that's nearly impossible to do. I've seen guys at this company who never played a lick of competitive basketball do better.

We basically get one of these Izzo statements a year. It could be about transfers and how it ruins culture. It could be about how everything is ruined. Luckily we get it night 1 after a loss. Way to set the tone for the year, Izzo!
