NBA Created Custom Court Designs For All 30 Teams For The New In Season Tournament And They Surprisingly Aren't A Total Disaster

When Adam Silver and the NBA announced the new In Season Tournament, it was met with mixed reactions. People tend to hate on anything new and pretty much anything that brings change, so that wasn't much of a surprise. We saw the same sort of reaction to the Play In Tournament, and so far that thing has been pretty awesome.

When it comes to the In Season Tournament, it'll probably take some time for people/teams/players to truly give a shit about it, but we have no idea if it's going to be a success or not at this point. The one thing we do know is the NBA has released custom court designs for all 30 teams, and some of them actually look pretty awesome

You can go ahead and click on that tweet to see the thread of all 30, because I'm pretty sure embedding 30 tweets in a row might break this website, but here are a few of my favorites. It appears that the league is using the look/feel from the new city edition jerseys for some, so let's have a look

Duh

Maybe I'm just a simple fella, but I love the all red + gold combo on this court. Flipped around, I also realyl like the design of the Cavs all tan with red combo

It pains me to say, but I am nothing if I am not fair. The Lakers one looks pretty clean

as do the Timberwolves and Jazz

Not all courts are created equal though. Some just don't look right to my eyes/brain

Is this for the defending champs or the Warriors?

This is about as gross as the Bucks defense looked last night in their ass kicking by the Hawks amirite?

I get it, Mardis Gras and what not, but I don't love this combo as much

To me the Knicks one would look so much better if they figured out their New York logo. Why do I need 3D glasses in order to read that? I feel like if you just stuck the normal giant Knicks logo here it would have looked so much better.

Now the big question I have here is if this new court design could mean a bigger, more important change is also on the horizon. You notice how all of these courts have the giant trophy in the middle? Could that possibly mean that the league is FINALLY going to go back to the best NBA Finals court design they've ever had?

Please, PLEASE bring back the massive Larry O'Brien trophy design back to the center court for the Finals. I have to believe that if the league is doing this for their In Season Tournament, that the next step is naturally to get back to doing it for the actual tournament people give a shit about right now. Silver is already making waves going back to the old school ways of East vs West for the All Star game, why not take it one step further and bring back this court design? I don't need full color courts for the NBA Finals, but I do need the giant trophy to be back in the middle. I feel like this is a no brainer that everyone can get behind.

Listen, it's going to take some time for people and fans to get used to change. At the end of the day I don't think people care as much about what the court looks like compared to the product being played on it, so we'll have to see how teams handle this tournament. If the stars are playing and everyone takes it seriously, it could be fun. I give the NBA credit for at least trying something new in terms of the idea/court designs, but they still have a long way to go until this idea reaches the levels like we see in soccer, which of course is Adam Silves goal.

I'm not kidding about the Finals court though. Bring that shit back.
