Fantasy Football Funk Town - Week 7 Player WAR Update And The All Star Team You Could Have Picked Up From The Free Agent Pool Sunday Morning

Here is your official best fantasy football players in PPR through seven weeks according to my wins above replacement model. Quick TL;DR - WAR estimates how many wins acorss a 17-game season your fantasy team gets solely due to a specific player MORE than a replacement-level player at the same position.

Things are starting to soildify here now that we're about half-way through the fantasy season. Tyreek Hill is on pace to smash the all-time NFL receiving record on a team that's about to smash the all-time NFL scoring record and he's not even #1 overall thanks to the LaDanian Tomlinson of our time (CMC) who's on a team tailor-made for the LaDanian Tomlinson of our time.

Got a great suggestion from a commenter last week suggesting I run the same graph above but in order of ADP for a different perspetive. As you wish:

This version helps point out where all the booms and busts came in the average draft. We'll use this to fire off some takes for the week.

Travis Etienne is flying like E.T. to the top of the chart

Calvin Ridley drafters watching Etienne get two touchdowns every week:

Giphy Images.

Etienne was the gem of the third round as no pick would have worked out better unless you accidently queued up Raheem Mostert before dropping your phone in the toilet. As a lured Calvin Ridley victim, I am so so SO very happy for you all! If I can't be happy, at least someone can!

Big Three QBs are BACK

I'm doing a stand alone blog soon to victory lap my take from the past couple of years that drafting a top-QB early is actually a sharp move. The deep state fantasy analysts will keep telling you othewise, but the data has been crystal clear. QB productivity used to be more random - but not with the players of today's game. And the guys at the top keep demolishing your favorite "value QB" in the 6th-12th rounds.

Just tell us who you are having brunch with each week Matt Stafford

Come on dude. Figuring out who your go-to guy is going to be a nightmare rest of season it looks like. This week was Nacua. Last week was Kupp. It's madness! I guess it helps knowing you're definitely not sitting either of these guys anyway, but get ready to have some high highs and low lows.

Cowboys - Rank 64

Bye weeks definitely muddy the waters in these charts as it penalizes players who have had byes but not those who haven't. Things will even out once all byes have concluded, but let this be a reminder to try to trade DSTs high when the going is good. The Cowboys were the #1 OVERALL fantasy player after both Week 1 and Week 2.

Had a bad Week 7? I sure as fuck did. Hopefully this possible realistic team that fell on it's face below makes you feel better. Again, the only rule to qualify for the worst possible team lineup is that each player must have been started in at least 30% of ESPN leagues that week.

Team Total: 27.8 PPR Points

Good news: I only see two players on my team (Gabe Davis and Calvin Ridley)

Bad news: I started Deshaun Watson (-.8 points) who got injured but evidently didn't meet the 30% start requirement. I was forced to start him in place of Justin Fields who got hurt early in the game last week too. So you could say things are going pretty great for me.

Look at Gabe Davis. Out there doing Gabe Davis things again. Davis appears on this list for a second-week in a row as he continues his campaign for my annual Troll of the Year Award to recognize the player who fucks over fantasy owners both when they are in the starting lineup AND when they are on your bench.

As is tradition in this blog - we further twist the knife on anyone who had a shitty week to see the best possible all-star team consisting of players from the free agent pool (defined as players who are below the 192 top-rostered players of the week)

Team Total: 132.4 PPR Points

I acutally have one of these guys! Josh Palmer provided my bench exponentially more points than both my aforementioned starting wide receivers combined. This is great because if it comes to whatever playoff tiebreaker bench points is, I'll be in a better position.

That's it for Week 7.
