We Have Already Reached The Point Where Victor Wembanyama Is Must See TV Every Time He Steps On An NBA Court

I'm just going to warn you now, this is most likely going to become a nightly thing now that NBA basketball is back in our lives again. My hands are tied. As long as Victor Wembanyama exists and is active on an NBA court, I'm ready to declare it must watch TV. Every single time we see him play he does things that make you shake your head in awe, unable to even really process what's happening in front of you. None of it makes any sense, yet he keeps doing it.

At first, you wanted to maybe overlook what he was doing because it was happening overseas. There are plenty of examples of guys who look awesome playing international ball and then can't really hang in the NBA. Then you maybe wanted to overlook what he was doing once he hit the states because he was scrimmaging against a G League team.

"Sure he's great, but these aren't all NBA players"

This was silly of course, but hey if you were someone who needed to see a larger sample, that's fine.

Then came Summer League and Wemby struggled at first, so naturally everyone pounced. It was almost as if some people out there couldn't want to call him a bust. Then he came right back and dominated and it was well, this is Summer League. These guys won't even make an NBA roster.

Now in preseason against real NBA players at a time when teams are starting to take these games seriously as a dress rehearsal for the regular season, Wemby is still out here destroying everything in his path

I'll remind you, these are the Warriors regulars (mins Draymond). I know these games are technically fake, but that's only in terms of the standings. What we see on the floor is very, very real, and my eyes are showing me a player who personifies the idea of a human cheat code. Call him a unicorn, call him a basketball alien, call him whatever you want, it all fits. What exactly are you supposed to do when he's on the floor? You think you're open for a 3PA, and he blocks it. If you try and bully him and attack the rim, he just blocks you. If you think you've found space, he blocks you from behind because he has go go gadget arms.

Offensively if you give him space, it's a three in your eyeball. If he gets you on the block, he'll just shoot over you. He moves in transition like a wing with the handle of a guard. Make it make sense.

The Warriors seem to have no answer for him to start this game and I think what we're about to learn is that no team in the NBA is going to have an answer for Victor Wembanyama. The hype was very clearly warranted and then some. Just thinking about the fact that this is his starting point and he's only going to get better is so insane. Think of what he'll look like once he has say, a month of NBA experience. Then imagine what he looks like in 5 years when he's not even 25.

Spurs fans have to be over the goddamn moon right now and who could blame him. What a player.
