SOURCE - The New York Jets suffered a significant blow on defense, as Pro Bowl cornerback Sauce Gardner was ruled out Saturday with a concussion.

The Jets will face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday without their starting corners, Gardner and D.J. Reed, who was previously declared out with a concussion. Dime back Brandin Echols (hamstring) also is out, leaving the secondary in shambles as it prepares to face the high-powered receiving tandem of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.

Ugh. I mean, I get it. I am guessing based on the tone of tweet, Sauce does too. You have to be so careful with concussions. It's just so frustrating having a crucial game against the NFC champion and having to sit out one of the most important players the Jets have. Also, this Jets schedule sucks ass. They've had to play both Super Bowl teams in just the last three weeks. The Jets also had to play the Bills and the Cowboys already. It's week 6!

The good news for the Jets is they do have a bye next week so Sauce and DJ Reed should be back by Week 8 against the shabby Giants. The schedule does ease up quite a bit but this Eagles game could be huge beyond just winning or losing. And who are we kidding here? The Jets are going to lose but how they lose could be very important.

Zach Wilson has looked a lot better these past two games but if throws a stinker against the Eagles, would the Jets entertain making a change at QB with the bye coming up? How available is Kirk Cousins with the Vikings sitting at 1-4 and without Justin Jefferson for 4-6 weeks? Are the Jets seriously considering new pick up Trevor Siemian to start? Does it make me want to run into heavy traffic asking these questions after thinking we were going to be watching Aaron Rodgers all season?

I know the Eagles are great against the run so I think we're in for a touch matchup but I'm trying to stay positive. Losing Sauce (and Reed AND Echols) is awful. I haven't even mentioned how the OL is in rough shape after Alijah Vera-Tucker blew out his Achilles and had yet another season end due to injury in Denver.

Hopefully this bye can get some of these guys back soon and we can regroup. At least the Jets are done playing teams that played in last year's Super Bowl.
