Pittsburgh's Hatred Of Matt Canada Is Officially A Cross-Sports Rivalry As A Huge "Fire Canada" Chant Broke Out During Tuesday Night's Penguins-Blackhawks Game

No offense to Matt Canada and his family, but that right there is what sports is all about. An entire group of people coming together and rooting for a common goal. Is it nice when that goal is for a sports team to win? Of course. But getting a huge group of people to unite around a cause regardless of age, sex, religion, or race is a beautiful thing to see, especially in these divisive times.

I'm not surprised to see the Fire Matt Canada movement happen at a Penguins game because Pittsburgh is a sports town that seems to be completely in sync between sports. That's probably because it's a smaller city and all the teams wear the same colors (which more cities should do by the way). In New York it's almost impossible to get this city to unite around a common friend or enemy due to the amount of teams in the area. Mets fans and Yankees fans fight like cats and dogs. There is usually some sort of unspoken rivalry between the Jets and Giants when both teams aren't absolute basura. The fans of the local hockey teams hate each other like poison. And then there's the Knicks, who actually have the one figure that the millions of people in the area can all despise together.

Even that doesn't hold up all the way since Rangers fans that don't care about the Knicks usually thank God that Dolan doesn't meddle with their team.

Which is why I'm jealous that all these people from Pittsburgh having a common enemy in the local NFL team's offensive coordinator. New York fans are known for being tough, but Aaron Boone, Daniel Vogelbach, Zach Wilson, and the entire Giants offensive line should thank God that even though millions of New Yorkers may despise them, there are still millions that enjoy watching them fail and would never dream of rooting for them to lose their job of cashing a paycheck while woefully underperforming.

Matt Canada isn't so lucky and now he has to find ways to score more points despite a quarterback that looked like he could be out for the season a couple of weeks ago, a running back that appears to be running in quick sand, and people on social media ready to pounce on him if he looks pissed that his QB just threw the winning touchdown after calling an audible out of whatever play Canada called into his helmet.

P.S. It's kinda hilarious to think of any Canadian hockey players in the game that don't have a fucking clue who Matt Canada is wondering why all of Pittsburgh suddenly turned on the US's neighbor to the north. If this Fire Canada movement continues and the Steelers keep ignoring it, we will be forced to make Blame Canada shirts with Matt Canada looking like Terrence and Phillip.
