ROCK BOTTOM: Former Packers QB Calls The Bears "The New Lions" And Says They Need To Trade Justin Fields Before It's Too Late And Nobody Wants Him
WI Sports - Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Kurt Benkert had some harsh words to say about the Chicago Bears on his Twitter account on Sunday when the Bears got smoked 41-10 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Chicago is 0-3 on the year and it appears as if things will not get any better at Hallas Hall.
The Bears have lost 13 consecutive games and it appears as if this drama will not end anytime soon with them. Benkert said on his Twitter account about them:
“The Bears are a complete dumpster fire and should trade Fields/give him a chance somewhere else before his career is over while they take the next 10 years to rebuild.”
Those were some interesting words by Kurt Benkert, the former Green Bay Packers quarterback, who played in one game for the franchise during the 2021 season. Calling the Chicago Bears the new Detroit Lions is very strong. However, Chicago won an NFC North title during the 2018 season and Detroit hasn’t won one in decades.
The Bears could potentially have two top-five picks in the 2024 NFL Draft and change the course of the franchise in one offseason.

You don't have to walk into more than two bars in the beautiful city of Chicago before hearing somebody mention or reference the glory days of the 1985 Chicago Bears. The Bears superfan stereotype, like most stereotypes, is a stereotype for a reason, because it's true.
These people live, sleep, and die with Bears football. And ever since 1985, they've been dying. A lot.
It's sad.
I've said it in countless other blogs, if you live in Chicago, even if you're a Lions, or Vikings, or Packers fan, a part of you deep down in places you don't discuss at parties wants to see the Chicago Bears good. If not good, then at least competitive.
Which they haven't been since Lovie Smith and Jay Cutler were here, if we're being honest.
There's ugly, and then there's the commencement of the 2023 campaign for the Bears.
They are 29th in the league in total yards (750). 28th in the league in yards per play (4.2). 6th in the league in turnovers lost (6). 27th in the league in 1st downs (47). On defense, they've given up the 3rd most yards in the league (1222). 22nd in takeaways (2). And 4th in touchdowns given up (11). Through three games, this is a small sample size, but it is also a recipe for disaster.
Which is why just when you think things can't get any worse, and the naysayers and shit-talking can't get any worse, down from the clouds comes practice squad hero, current XLFer Kurt Benkert to take his shots.
Sure he has a dog in the fight considering he was once a Packer (kind of, for a minute), but even without those ties, what a low fucking blow we haven't heard yet. "The Chicago Bears are the new Detroit Lions".
Why the hell do the Lions need to be catching shrapnel from this dumpster fire Bears team? They're minding their own business, poised to win their first division title since 1993. Sure they're also midwest team, ran by a bunch of geriatrics and silver spoon kids, who torture their fan base, but the similarities end there. They don't deserve to be dragged into this.
As for the follow up to that sladerous statement, "They need to trade Justin Fields before his career is over", I'm far from an expert, but who is trading for him based upon his body of work thus far?
Maybe the only team with a worse QB, and some actual upside if they can find somebody who can take a snap without losing the ball and/or yardage every other snap? The Jets?
There's no other team, correct?
Could Justin Fields succeed on the Jets? Could they salvage their season and make the wild card with him under center, those weapons around him, and that savage defense? I think this should be a topic on #healthydebate
