Lou Holtz Responded To The Weird Rant Ryan Day Went On After The OSU/ND Game And Absolutely Dummied Him
Lou Holtz responds to Ryan Day: "I can understand why he did. He doesn’t want to talk about Michigan, 0-2. He doesn’t want to talk about the big game coming up against Penn State and against Michigan again. He’s a great coach. He’s done a tremendous job. He’s a great offensive mind. He hired an outstanding defensive coordinator from Oklahoma State. I think he’s doing a tremendous job. Ohio State’s a good football team. I don’t think they’re a great football team. This old bastard is so inside Ryan Day's head it is absolutely insane. I get using comments for some fuel going into games. But Lou is 86 years old and honestly just spewing facts. Day has had the "best" roster for a couple of years now and can't win that big game. I will get to all of that soon because the stats back it u, but can you imagine getting this mad about a guy who can qualify to be in a nursing home? This showed me how soft Day is and a lot of what Holtz said got to him and sort of believes everything he says. I don't think anyone looks at Ohio State as hard nosed football and I do think they are looked at as a little soft over the years.
Listen, the Buckeyes went 12-0 Day's first year. Great first year but they lost in the first game of the college playoff, couldn't win that big game. 2020 we all know doesn't count for anything due to covid but still couldn't win the National Championship despite getting there. 2021 didn't make the college playoff as they lost to Michigan. Then 2022 we all know they lost to Michigan as well and then also couldn't beat Georgia after being gifted a spot into the Playoffs.
Day does do a great job getting to the big games but he doesn't teach that hard nosed football. He just is what he is right now and Lou is right in everything he said. An 86 year old saying that he doesn't want to talk about the 0-2 to Michigan is so fucking funny to me and then seeing Ryan Day get all red. I wish I could see his reaction to this because if a 86 year old riles him up a lot of other things are going to get to him and his soft team.
